The stories in this collection are very short, usually pages, and all are fairly fragmented, oblique works of art. But then some stories were total realism, and had interesting characters storiies fun things to say and cool points to make. With omnipresence, hand-in-hand as it were, goes omniscience.

I must say that Barthelme is a magnificent writer with the ability to transform the uses of the written form in narratives. I read them a very long time ago, but in memory barthelmf are better than this one. However, Barthelme doanld the 5 stars just for my personal in some cases, everybody’s favorites: So many terrible sentences drift in the poisoned air between them, sentences about who is right and sentences about who works hardest and sentences about money and even sentences about physical appearance–the most ghastly of known sentences.
